THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH

Minutes of the General Assembly of the United Reformed Church 2006

Saturday, 8th July 2006 Third Session

FURY

Following a FURY presentation ‘Drumming for Trade Justice’ and an account of a recent visit to our church partners in Jamaica, both of which were part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of Trade Justice, the Rt Revd John Gladwin, Bishop of Chelmsford and Chair of Christian Aid, addressed the Assembly.

Christian Aid

Dr Gladwin described something of the current work of Christian Aid, its priorities and challenges, and was received by the Assembly with warm applause. A number of members of Assembly shared their stories, experiences and impressions of Christian Aid and its work.

The Moderator greeted Ms Linda Mead, Co-ordinator of Commitment for Life, who had taken up her post since the last meeting of the Assembly.

Worship

After announcements by the Convener of the Assembly Arrangements Committee, and worship led by the Chaplain, the Assembly adjourned.
