A Practical Theologian

 

A CRCW will be a person

WHO IS: A Practical Theologian

  • Someone who has a growing familiarity with and understanding of the Bible enriched by a study which neither evades the critical questions nor allows them to silence the central message.

  • Someone who has a grasp of the history of the Church’s world-wide mission, particularly as it relates to the ecumenical search for its unity and a grasp of Christian thinking concerned with personal and social ethical issues. Also, a concern of the application of critical faculties and the ability to reflect theologically on present Christian debate and other world views

  • The Bible & the Christian tradition

  • Philosophy & religion

  • Systematic, Feminist, Black, Reformed, Social, Liberation & Political, Urban and Kingdom of God Theology.

  • Social & Congregational Analysis

  • The Reformation and Church History

  • Ethics & making moral decisions

  • The World Church

  • Prophetic dimension of the ecumenical movement and
    Vatican II

  • Beliefs of other faith groups

WHO HAS SKILLS IN

  • Theological reflection: reflecting prayerfully and practically on experience in relation to ministry, personally and with others

  • Enabling others to acquire the skills to theologically reflect on their own experiences

  • Studying and critical questioning

  • Reading and reclaiming Biblical narrative

  • Enabling others to consider different ethical choices

  • Engaging in dialogue with a variety of Christian and non-Christian traditions and identifying the place of the Church in the community of faiths and the modern world

  • Inter-faith dialogue
