Hi there, I am a fourteen year old who is looking for the right church to go to. Both of my parents are agnostic and I have had no religious up-bringing but I still believe in the Christian faith. There is a URC church on the bottom of my road and I thought I would look here to learn more about it. I am happy so far but I just have a few questions, If I attended a service, would I be welcome? Also, what are the URCs beliefs in repentance? This is all I wanted to know and thanks for reading, J |

Hi there! Thanks for your questions! Whilst I can't speak for every church, I would really hope that you would get a warm welcome if you attended a service at your local URC. Different people understand repentance in slightly different ways. I suppose I would see it as a turning of our whole life towards Jesus - turning away (and asking for forgiveness for) those things that take us away from Jesus' teaching, and towards those things that help us to live as Jesus did. Please let me know how you get on at your local URC. I really hope you find the right church to go to! God bless, Matt |

Hi J, It's brilliant that you want to explore your faith, I first went to my local URC 7 months ago, they were so friendly and made me feel included and very welcome. As for repentence personally I think if anyone is truly sorry for their past misdeeds and we have all done them God will forgive us. I trully hope that you find what you are looking for and a welcoming church. my thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless Dianne x |
