The Revd David Fox

Churches to join in remembering missing minister

Churches across Wales are being invited to join together in remembering the ministry of the Revd David Fox. He vanished without trace, while on a walking holiday in Slovenia, five weeks ago. (Reported missing on June 23).

The leader of the United Reformed Church in Wales, the Revd Peter Noble, has written to all 119 congregations proposing, on Sunday September 14, they use prayers and worship material prepared for the occasion, and sing hymns written by David Fox himself. He says “This will not be a memorial service. Rather it will be an opportunity to celebrate the very real contribution David has made”.

Peter Noble adds: ”I have known David for nearly thirty years and consider him as a very dear friend and a gifted colleague. We are missing him. We recognise that after such a long time, it is difficult to believe David will be found alive. However, we live with the promise that wherever he is, he is held in the love of God”.

David Fox, aged 52, is minister of Elfed Avenue United Church, Penarth, a joint United Reformed Church and Presbyterian Church of Wales congregation. He is also clerk to the Wales Synod of the United Reformed Church.

David Fox has previously served across Wales at Tenby, Bettws and Holywell. These former churches are being particularly invited to take part in the act of remembering.
