Moderator leads funeral of Graham Mercer
The funeral has taken place of the Revd Graham Mercer, a United Reformed Church minister, who was killed in a car accident in which four other people died. The accident occurred in the Wirral, on Sunday 8 March. A girl of six and three women aged 71, 61 and 59 were also killed.
The funeral service was led by the Revd John Oldershaw, minister of St. George’s Church, Thornton Hough, where Graham Mercer was formerly minister, and the Revd Howard Sharp, Moderator of the Mersey Synod of the United Reformed Church.
Although retired, Graham Mercer had remained active in serving the church in the Wirral area. He regularly led worship services and took weddings at Thornton Hough.
Church members continue to uphold Graham’s family – and the families of all those killed in the accident – in their thoughts and prayers.
