Marie Trubic, a church related community worker with more than twenty years experience to her name, has recently moved from her role as ecumenical CRCW in Wythenshawe, to become CRCW in Newham, east London, working alongside the Revd Ashley Evans and the Revd Jane Bazeley at Christ Church, Newham. In herrole Marie will be involved in Christ Church’s work around the forthcoming Olympics and Paralympics; helping to co-ordinate joint work with three other local churches, who, together with Christ Church, have agreed “that they only do apart what they cannot do together” and working with the project team who are starting to redevelop the Christ Church’s building on Barking Road so it can become the best possible tool for its mission and community outreach.

Speaking of her move south, Marie said: “I was really attracted to the opportunities of working in this part of London. I don’t like ‘cosy and comfortable’ and I love the challenges and excitement that comes from living, working, and worshipping in such a richly diverse community. When this post came up I found that I couldn’t let it pass by – and so here I am.”

Alongside her new CRCW post, Marie is taking on another role this year, that of URC spokesperson on public affairs. She will take up this mantle at General Assembly 2012, when fellow CRCW Simon Loveitt steps down after four years in the role.
