torch crowd crop

At 7.40am this morning – Tuesday 22 May – a group from Yeovil United Reformed Church fed the multitudes gathered to watch the Olympic Torch pass through the town.

Church volunteers were out in force at 6:30 preparing to feed the masses and, as hundreds of residents began lining the streets of Yeovil to welcome the Olympic Torch, Princes Street United Reformed Church offered them an impromptu, free, breakfast – a bacon butty and cup of tea.

The Olympic flame will come within ten miles of 95 per cent of the UK population, and the URC is urging its churches to check out the detailed, street-by-street, route to see how close it will pass to them, and, if it is on the route, think about how to best to mark the occasion!
