Important points to note

1.                  You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the church will reclaim on your donations in the tax year.

If you cease to be a taxpayer, or to pay enough tax, you should notify the church treasurer to cancel your declaration.   If too much tax is recovered on your giving, you will be liable to refund the excess to the Inland Revenue.

2.                  Your donations should not be based on tax paid by another person (eg husband or wife) but by you personally.

3.                  You are entitled to cancel this declaration at any time.   Simply notify the church treasurer, preferably in writing, if you wish to do so.

4.                  Please notify the church treasurer if you change your name or address.

5.                  If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your self assessment tax return.
