Clergy Working Conditions - Statement
of Good practice
The United Reformed Church’s response
to the Department of Trade and Industry
In December 2005 the Department of Trade and
Industry sent Churches and other Faith communities a document Clergy
Working Conditions-Statement of Good Practice and asked that the
recipients both respond to the Statement and make the Statement and the
response available to clergy/ministers.
Mission Council in March 2006 accepted the
response and asked for it to be placed on the website. The response is
here proceeded by the document Clergy Working Conditions – Statement of
Good Practice.
The United Reformed Church’s response was sent
to the Department of Trade and Industry following Mission Council. The
Department has acknowledged receipt of the response and the process of
consultation will continue after all responses to the Statement have
been received and considered.

The Movement of Ministers
The Ministries Committee in February 2006 agreed Movement of Ministers, a
set of Guidelines which replaces the previous Ministries document Declaring
and Filling Vacancies.
Movement of Ministers also incorporates the advice for Interim
Moderators of the United Reformed Church.
Mission Council, March 2006, accepted that Movement of Ministers should replace
all previous guidelines used by churches when seeking to call a new minister.
