    Foundation Training for Ordained Ministry

There are several different methods:

1.  Stipendiary Ministry

a) Residential Training in College:
at: Westminster College, Cambridge. Mansfield College ,Oxford. Northern College, Manchester. The Queens College, Birmingham.
Normally this Training is full-time for three/four years and includes an Internship year, or, in the case of Northern College an integrated course. At present, training for stipendiary ministry requires at least one year resident in college.

2. Non-Stipendiary Ministry

i) Part-time training on an ecumenical course, usually for four or three years

Training  for Learning and Serving

A course developed by Scottish Churches Open College, of six modules designed to help Christians deepen their understanding of their faith. The basic foundation course is taught in local groups with a tutor, and residential weekends provide the basic recommended training for URC Lay Preachers from September 1995.
