Let us bless the Lord by Stephen B Dawes. Pub Inspire, pp 120, ISBN 978 1 85852 287 6, £5.99

How well do you know Psalm 103? According to Stephen Dawes, it is an ideal template for studying the Old Testament. He takes as his starting point the belief that Christians do not studying the Hebrew Scriptures half enough. Yet he acknowledges that could be a daunting task and therefore presents a simple guide to this part of the Bible in a step by step study of Psalm 103. His style of writing is down to earth. Each section includes questions for discussion that could be used in contexts where church culture still continues with that sort of bible study group. There are some blank pages at the back to record your own insights. Overall it is a simple little book, the contents of which are worth a second look. However, I'd recommend Dawes gets a more inspiring publisher if he really wants to communicate his engaging style in a more contemporary way: looks and layout matter in this visual age.
