Starting out - Matt
Stone
My spiritual
journey began when my parents took me to church as a child, and there
has been no time in my life when I would not have called myself a
Christian. However, it was at 18, some five years ago, that my faith was
forced to go deeper. I was asked to lead a service with some other young
people at church and, terrifyingly, to “preach” a short message.
At first, I took
this in my stride. It’d be fine, I told myself. No problem! How
difficult can it be to get up and share a few words with 40 people?
However, as the service loomed more and more closely, I began to panic.
What would I actually say? What could I say that they wouldn’t have
heard before? How do I know what God wants to teach these people? It was
this dawning realisation that led me to pray – and pray more than ever
before!
