As Christians we were part of the abolition of slavery and apartheid movements. We demonstrated in Birmingham and
were there in our masses in Edinburgh during MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY year. The significant changes to the Climate Change
Bill would not have happened without our campaigning. Commitment for Life has always encouraged churches to take
campaigning actions, so why not make encourage everyone in your church to take an action.

200Countdown to Copenhagen

Christian Aid

World leaders at the Copenhagen summit have simply failed. Targets to deal with global warming did not materialise. Protesters and campaigners outside the summit were strong in their condemnation of the results.

The Big IF
Coal is the biggest single cause of climate change, which is already devastating the lives of the world’s poorest people.

The proposed new dirty coal power station at Kingsnorth in Kent could by itself be responsible for:

More than 20,000 people being forced from their homes as climate refugees

100,000 people losing their dry season water supply due to glaciers melting

50,000 people being at risk of hunger due to drought and lower crop yields

Letting this happen would completely undermine the UK’s targets on climate change, and mean we have no credibility at crucial international climate talks in Copenhagen. And yet, climate change minister Ed Miliband is still considering saying yes to a new dirty coal power station at Kingsnorth in Kent, which could pave the way for even more coal power stations across the country.

Join WDM and help stop this. Tell Ed Miliband what you will do if he commits us to years of high emissions and climate catastrophe by allowing a dirty coal power station at Kingsnorth. Go to http://thebigif.org/  to send your message.
