United Reformed Church general secretary Roberta Rominger looks forward to a new campaign of welcome
My vision when I came into post as general secretary of the United Reformed Church, one year ago as I write, was for a joyful, confident church with a real sense of identity.
Being Reformed means believing in a living God, watching for where God is at work around us, being ready at every point to respond to God’s call. Yet every time I talk about identity I get challenged – isn’t it anti-ecumenical for the United Reformed Church to have an identity of its own?
How did we ever get to the point that we thought this way? What can we possibly bring to the ecumenical table if we don’t know who we are?
