An unprecedented 107 nations have signed a pledge to "stigmatise, prohibit and eliminate nuclear weapons in light of their unacceptable humanitarian consequences and associated risks" at the Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in New York. Four major UK Churches, including the United Reformed Church, have welcomed the news, but called on the UK Government to unblock discussion of new multilateral disarmament initiatives.

It’s faster, better looking and easier to navigate … and, as well as established favourites, including the prayer handbook, the URC Yearbook and the extremely popular Surprised by Grace by Susan Durber, we have some new items from John Proctor, the URC’s general secretary. These include a set of five booklets on all four Gospels and the Book of Acts that are informed by John’s many years of New Testament study and teaching. These booklets can be purchased either separately for £3.95 each or as a collection for £16.00. Also from John we have The People’s Bible Commentary: Matthew, a more in depth devotional commentary for study and preaching available for £8.99. And, John Proctor’s most recent book First and Second Corinthians will shortly be hitting the store.
